Mid-Autumn Festival Photo Journal

I couldn’t believe that it’s been 5 years since I last spent the Mid-Autumn Festival with my family. I never really thought much of it, since we’re not big on celebrating but it was still so nice to have been able to spend it with them. My cousin was also visiting from Spain.

On Saturday, I managed to visit the Power Station of Art for The Ninth Wave Exhibition by Cai Guo Qiang - read about it here. It's a contemporary art museum here in Shanghai that I've been meaning to visit for a while now. It was really great and we we're pleasantly surprised by the other exhibit, Cartier Time Art, as well. Having a long weekend was also quite splendid.

Cartier Time Art.

"Silent Ink" by Cai Guo Qiang. Very haunting installation where the dig-out floor of the room is filled with ink, which comes from an open pipe from the ceiling.

Alludes to the violence and separation caused by the Berlin Wall.

"Head On" by Cai Guo Qiang.

"Air of Heaven" by Cai Guo Qiang: Eerie installation with three dolls on a mechanic swing set on the bottom of an cylindrical industrial building.

View when looking up.

"The Ninth Wave" by Cai Guo Qiang

Animals appear seasick, possessing an ecological/conservation undertone.

The installation sailed the Huang Pu River in Shanghai.

Silence.
